After a two week hiatus or mental pilgrimage (as I like to call it), I have decided that not only I, but every citizen of this great nation is a number. Yes, a number, or product if you will, with a bar code, and multiple accessories that fit the System's imagination. We come CPU compatible, bluetooth capable, unlimited in A.I. possibilities and fully anatomical. Yup, the System has fully played us or engulfed us in it's matrix of capitalistic dreams, and convinced us to indulge in self-centered, "numero uno" servitude. Oppression is a drink best served cold, and we have been tasting it's bitter tongue for decades. Fighting wars, promoting political platforms, building "big" business, and demolishing the small...All of this is to say that we have ignored the fact that the majority has been fighting the majority, and have left the true power in the hands of the minority. It is no secret that the control of this world rests in the hands of the few. The system has pumped drugs into our neighborhoods, built itself off the backs of slaves and immigrants, and continues to play upon our intelligence with political rhetoric that promises change!!
"The devil's greatest trick is to convince us that he does not exist." Can you think of anything that exist today that follows the same discipline? Is it not intelligent to keep the majority so busy fighting themselves that they do not notice the true evil at hand? I'm not preaching revolt, or promoting upheaval, I'm simply telling you what I've taken from my first week back in school. What have you learned?

I really don't understand what you're getting at. The top half of this piece you discuss the how evil "the invisible hand" really is, and that Uncle Sam is the 2008 Dope Boy of the year, but you wrap up by hiding behind the statement of "don't mind me i'm just ranting...so...anyways, what have you learned kids?"
I'm in no position to tell you what and how to express your frustrations of an imperfect society, but it's unfortunate to keep seeing individuals promoting a diologue that goes nowhere. And the lack of support for your argument makes you seem naive. "Big business demolishes small business" ok, what are the pros and cons to that. Circuit City had the same computer i just ordered custom made. It was $300 more, but i wouldve gotten it then and there and wouldve prolly had a warranty. In contrast, the mom and pops pc store is making me wait a week to have them put it together and the warranties are only manufacturers warranties, no extended warranties like the ones that Circuit City offers. So there are pros and cons to everything. And i think they should be expressed clearly when bringing stuff like this up.
J-Cruz. I had to read the post atleast three time to make anything of it, so I agree with you. I read something very similar to this post. I believe its called the communist manifesto. When I read your post, I couldn't help imagining / hearing in my head communist music from Russia in the background. My thoughts / questions:
1. I am not sure what you are arguing, and whatever that is, there is a significant lack of support for your argument (per J Cruz)
2. What school are you attending to teach you this garbage? Your professor has to be a socialist or communist.
3. Yes, every american is a number. I believe we call it a social security number. Your tone appears to be more apocalyptic, you might as well had use the term "mark of the beast".
4. What do you mean by "played and and engulfed in capitalistic dreams". I can only conclude from that statement, is that you prefer a socialist system? How do you propose to solve the Big Business "problem"? Caps on profits?
5. How are we being opressed? Is everyone being opressed or is you statement race based, again...Are you being opressed with a job? You can't be that opressed, you are attending a college somewhere. Most oppressed people don't have that opportunity.
6. Can you explain what "system" and "how" it pumped drugs into your neghborhoods? Let me guess, Bush 43 is personallly bought the drugs and sent them your way?
Capitalism is good, its made the US the greatest country on earth (you apparently agree that America is great, but then contradict that). Its not perfect, there are greedy folks out there, but overall its capitalism and individualism that drives this country. Its each individual trying to be the best they can be, or trying to be better and do more than they even thought they could achieve. Greatness doesn't necessarily mean wealth, each individual has their own definition of greatness. Its people like you who spew words like make things "fair" and "level" and equal. Again, that's not possible. There will always be poor and there will always be rich. Each person has a definition of what rich is. I am sure some people would consider me rich, but I look at others who have more and consider them rich. I don't despise the rich, I really don't pity the poor (dont confuse that statement to think I am not charitable). High taxes and stronger re-distribution of wealth, if we were to do more of it, doesn't actually hurt the rich. The rich will stay rich, but pay higher taxes. What it will do is prevent people who are not "rich" from becoming rich. People will be dis-insented to do more and innovate.
That's all I can really say without ranting.
joe b use make some great points but i think that you are misinterpreting things.
we live under the guise of "you can make it if you try" skys the limit" "of foreiners can come here and become wealthy so can you"
we are all programmed to believe certain national truths from a young age.
uncle sam can be labeled as the dope boi of the last few decades. blacks didn't bring this upon themselves. however we are trained to believe that selling dope is our key to breaking out of oppression. its in the media that is fed to blacks all the time. instead of being rich be "hood rich" thats programming
you've heard of cheerleaders, models, etc. using drugs and throwing up to maintain an image(very unattractive one, but an image nontheless)
i've seen a documentary on hbo about lil girls who thought that it was ok to give head bcuz having sex makes you a whore(wtf) they see on tv all the time and its praised so y not do it. programming.
we are all segregated into different castes, sects, or other demographics.
and in my opinion america isn't a bad place to live but it isn't the best. i'm not a communist but i can see its benefits
It's funny how when one begins to speak of mental liberation, they are instantly labled as a communist. I personally don't feel that the author preached Marxism, but instead chose to speak the truth about the world around us. Yes, America is economically "better off" than the rest of the world, but that doesn't mean that it has not brainwashed the average citizen into believing that all it ever stood for was equality..C'mon and face it, America has built itself off of exploitation and lies, but from the mental aspect of joe.b and j. cruz: "it doesn't matter because your arguement is not supported by facts." Do your research guys, the author doesn't need to present textbook facts, because the truths of this world surround you everyday.
No one is giving black people drugs. I spent months in jail surrounded by basers and dope dealers...GUESS WHAT... when i got out i marched my happy little ass to FSU Undergraduate Deans' Office and begged for another shot. I had to do a lot of b.s. just to get that shot too. And finally after MONTHS of board appearances and remorseful statements i was allowed back in under academic probation. I made dean's list the following semester.
What am i getting at here?
Anyone with enough determination can better themselves. Black people who believe that selling drugs is the only way out of financial turmoil because JEEZY or RICH BOY told them to do it is an idiot. Do i sound racist? I hope not. Then again, at times i can be a flagrant racist. I'm a Mexican-American born to illegal immigrant parents that to this very day, 23 years after crossing into US borders, arent American Citizens...why?.... go into the INS beuracracy and ask what it takes to become an American Citizen, i promise you, you couldnt even pass the naturalization exam.
I'm just sick of the every minority feeling oppressed. Are the odds against us? Yes. Do we start off living in the projects without a platinum limited edition european spoon in our moths? of course. But damn, we can do better. Minorities are just lazy. There i said it.
I dont care.
I learned from my downfalls. Unfortunately, the majority never does.
oh, and joe b, "mark of the beast"...lol, brilliant.
actually, i have a lot more to say. and its gonna offend a lot of people. but i have to get it off my chest. now...2 of you on this board knows me personally, and the author knows me too. everyone knows that i'm not a full blown biggot, or that i hate a certain race. but i mean....
how come when cubans migrate here they immediately start to better themselves. ive known so many cubans fresh off the raft hurrying to learn english, get their ged, start some kind of small business, whether it be in food, construction landscaping, etc etc.
Mexican people get here and they immediately become someone's house maid, agricultural pickers, construction workers, restaurant bust boys, dish washers, cooks, etc etc
Even when the large Jewish population migrated here they immediately went to work as America's fist peddlers.
Do African Americans feel resentment because they didnt willfully migrate here? Is that why they arent as hungry?
If thats the case (which i'm not saying it is, but for the purpose of open diologue lets run with it for now...) when does the African American community decide to better themselves as a whole instead of waiting for the promised "40acres and a mule." Its obvious that America isnt going to give it up.
You rarely see African Americans performing unwanted jobs to make a quick buck. They rather push drugs?
NOW.
as a combative stance to my own argument. i believe that it also has a lot to do with our lazy generation. Because i'm sure there a thousands of Mexican young-adults pushing weight instead of following in the footsteps of their ancestors.
But i feel like you'll rarely find blakc people picking fruit. doing construction (when i worked as a sheet-metal roofer, there were only ONE African American in our whole crew, the rest were white people and mexicans).
**these are just my personal observations and biases. in neither way am i here to stereotype anyone. i just want some clarity.
Ironically, within your argument you you stated that you did not want to offend anyone, yet at the same time you allowed your true self to be revealed..You know what i'm sick and tired of..
1. sick of immigrants entering the U.S, adopting the mentality of whites, and judging Blacks as if they are better than them. Yeah your right..Latin Americans in general are willing to take up meniscule labor in order to make a living..and your right, the majority of blacks are not willing to do the same..you know why..because if my ancestors toiled the land your people fight so hard to enter, built the wealth of the country in which you fight so hard to obtain, saw the blood of kinsman spilled because of the want of freedom..then i would leave the slave labor to the those who wish to be exploited as slaves, because we have spent generations doing what you call hard work!!
2. Get your facts right buddy, the drug problem within the black community is an endemic not an epidemic.."Endemic" meaning that the effects are transgenerational v.s an "Epidemic" which happens swiftly and the effects last for a shorter period of time..When sociologist went into black neighborhoods and studied the effects of heroin on the community, they found ways to reduce the problem..what happened? The goverment sought more "meaningful" ways to divert the monies that would have otherwise been used to reduce the problem.."aka" the drug wars was really a cover-up for the government's unwillingness to help the black community effectively..
Ya know, i'm really surprised that your parents endured such hardships under the immigration policies..but i want you to tell the same story to the Hatian immigrants who are not even permitted to enter the country, let alone, risk getting hunted down like dogs if they cross our boarders..
My brother, you may not realize it, but because of your appearance, you are still far more acceptable in the eyes of society than an idividual of Black background..But you know what? i don't expect you to believe that, but if you want proof, ask those individuals who have been incarcerated such as yourself, and sought meaningful ways to better themselves, i guarantee their story isn't so Disney conclusive like your own..
Lastly, i don't blame any other minority group for thinking that they can judge the black community, because we as a people have allowed it to happen..Most individuals think that there gathering substantial amounts of data on the Black race when they watch T.V..I'm so sad that the minoriry amongst us has come to be representative of our race as a whole..
No, blacks are not drug dealing fiends..
No, blacks are not sex addicted numbskulls
No..let me stop..I don't have to explain myself to you, or any other minority or majority that feels as if they can judge us..Walk a day in my shoes, and see if you could weather the storm..The world is not equal, especially for Blacks..There, I said it..And don't dare use useless rhetoric supporting the advancement of other races, to downplay the advancement of Blacks..Once again, do your research..This country has been against us from the start, and they don't like you either, you're just more tolerable, because your willing to assimilate..
I would like to commend all comments.
What I find interesting is although all of you have your own opinion it is just that an opinion, and unless they changed the rules on opinions I never knew of one that was right or wrong.
It is important to understand that in order to have a voice you have to have something credible to say. We could go back and forth about race and gender biases all day but if there is no credibility then the voice behind the words means nothing.
But, for the purpose of this blog I to will VOICE an OPINION. Joe B stated it perfectly, we are a number by our Social. This number is very important because it literally holds the future of any individual. Through this # one is identified, selected, and/or rejected. This # along with your race allows one the Pearly Gates of Heaven or the Firey Depths of Hell while here on earth. Did you know that the first three numbers of ones Social can identify where you were born, so yes we are a MARK OF THE BEAST...LOL(love that).
For the record, the BEAST don't like anyone other than their own kind and that's debateable but they have a system that works and amongst their kind they teach their young the rules to the system at birth.
Should we as the majority be angry, sure, because no matter how hard we try to follow the directions were only allowed what they want us to have before the rules are changed again.
It bothers me J. Cruz that other nationalities can come to America and get the jobs you mentioned some better, some worse and on top of that get all the government assistance without any complications. The government has more grant money for migrants wanting to start a business than they do for Americans (this is fact although another topic ...smile).
I'm just saying baby have a voice instead of an opinion. Give back by helping a less fortunate of any race. Show them the exact steps you took to get where you are because you have a story to tell instead of using it to build a case. All races have their faults, their slackers, and their disappoinments but the one thing to remember is that you are part of the majority and the BEAST don't like you either.
THAT IS WHAT I LEARNED!!!
ooooowwweeeee!
thank you. every race has lazy bums in amongst them, but there is nothing more annoying than hering someone of another race saying, "my situation was worse than your's and i still did ok for myself" everyone's situation affects them differently. if you found a way through your situation plz inform me on how you did it.
i'm not asking for you to say, "read a book" bcuz that still doesn't help me.
tell me what book, what steps to take, what person to get involved with.
most ppl don't have someone to help them on their feet.
j. cruz you said once you got out of jail you went to fsu and begged for "another" shot. did that mean you were already involved in school b4 hand?
you seem angry that you made it out and back onto your path to success, but what about the ppl that got out and weren't on the path to success, or doesn't even know what it looks like?
is an individual that has never seen a stove or microwave a fool for starving when surrounded by food that they don't know how to cook or prepare?
cool guy, you make an excellent point sir.
(lovin' the open diologue)
anyone else?
Whoa!! Your analogy to the microwave was awesome!! I can definitely vibe with that statement..Anonymous person, you also made an excellent argument..We must do, instead of talking about those who have failed to do, or have done before us..All of the commentators sound incredibly intelligent!!
Wow, the dialogue that I read has been intense but nonetheless needed. Nothing can be done to improve anyone’s race without first truly understanding how individuals feel. Opinions are opinions but they are the first steps to making and changing laws, guidance and directions of people whether the directions are positive or negative. It was the opinions of the white race that believed blacks were inferior and was too stupid to read and write, these same opinions that designed many laws to back their beliefs, and the same opinions that embedded themselves in the thoughts and ideas of generations to subconsciously believe they truly are beneath this white race. As time and the allotment of privileges in this society facts have shown that all races are capable of the same successes and failures.
Yes we all are accounted for by our SS# and most recently our credit score, even if you try not to use credit it has been imposed upon us in all sectors of our lives. We can not even buy car insurance without it, if we all need the same protection and coverage’s why should someone with a lower credit score pay more? If you once had great credit and went through a divorce and now your score is low should you be penalized? I feel oppressed having to take part in something that I was not given the rules on how to play and had to figure out through trail and error.
Who is truly the majority in our society is it the upper, middle, or lower class? How do you define the class that you are in? If you have a job and are making your payments on all your bills month to month and living pay check to pay check are you considered to be in the middle or lower? You don’t have any assets beside maybe a house and a car payment, but you definitely are no longer living in the projects where some of us grew up. My opinion is the minority are the ones making all the decisions with their opinions for the majority. This is the best time to understand my thoughts with the 2008 presidential race going on. One of those minority candidates will make choices for the majority, but if I am not mistaken wasn’t our system suppose to allow for the majority to make the decisions while having that elected person see it to action. As a society we have not voice and we are the majority. Tell me when you hear about these survey polls that were taken, did you take part in that. Do your local leaders hear your cry for what you want to see changed in your neighborhood? Why as a society we state “Education is the Key to success” but when it comes to budget cuts Education is always the first to go.
Drugs in the black community are a problem and have been a problem for years, it is no secret how it flooded our community and has taken many lives and has jailed many brothers. I want to say congratulations to you J-Cruz for getting back on track and I hope you will take the time to mentor some other young brothers of all races on how you were able to go back to your same environment (or did you take yourself out of those surroundings) and be successful. Some blacks are less likely to do the low end jobs simply because they know the history of their ancestors and there is plenty of resentment for positions such as maids when you look back to slavery times and the jobs blacks were allowed to have. Lazy is a word that was used in some post to describe people and that word may be correct, but I want you to think about those brothers of any race who look thuggish wearing baggy pants and braids (cornrows) and they go to apply for a job. They don’t know how to change from street lango to professionalism and they are turned away, so do you blame them for looking for the quick fix to their problems. (That is only the beginning of why they don’t get the J.O.B.) Why don’t we have more supportive programs for these youth something productive for them to do with their time? Most of the youth can not visualize life beyond today let alone about next week or next year, they don’t even realize that life outside of their neighborhood exist and has so much to offer them, how sad for them. If you consider yourself the majority and especially the minority then do society a favor and give back become a mentor, you don’t have to live in a mansion to show the youth a better life, you can simply point out their options and how they can obtain “their Dream” (I have so much more to say, but since I already wrote a book I will spare everyone)
have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
BUT ARE WE REALLY!!!
YOU PEOPLE NEED TO JUST STOP IT!!!!I am so tired of the crying of foul play and unjust treatment you have been dealt. So what your people have been used to build up this country, after that kind of treatment you would think you would get your SH!T together so that you could not be treated like that again.
Today is one of your famous activist Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Please tell me how all the work he did for your PEOPLE the payback is the jails filled on the house, corners infested with nickle & dime dealers (still learning how to make change out of $.15 cents), and welfare lines continuing to grow because the lack of self-esteem & self-respect can't be found.
Wow!! the more I thimk about it you people sound and look pitiful. Someone great once said "If you want to keep information away from African American, Blacks, Negroes, and/or Colored people (depending on what the NAACP feel their title should be for this year) put it in a book". Boy, you people proved that person right.
I'd say one thing, somebody better tell somebody in your race that if you people get your minds right, stop going against one another, and form a unity you all could possibly be the determining force to be reckoned with. "United you stand, Divided you fall" I thought I would take that out of the books for you.
PEACE
I guess if I belonged to a race that came in the night and the light of day to steal, kill, and destroyed many lives I too would have the balls to say just forget about all that has been done to you and against you.
I guess if I belonged to a race that continues to make the decision to imprison blacks for longer lengths of time who have been caught w/ the same amount of drugs as another race, I too would be able to turn a blind eye.
I guess if I belonged to a race that continues to decide on paying black men and women less for doing the exact same job as other races, I too would say stop whining and get over it.
I guess if I belonged to a race that enslaved innocent people and used the unfamiliar religion of Christianity and violence to scare and mentally imprison a race, I too would say it’s over get your sh!t together.
I guess if I belonged to a race that stole ideas, homes, property, and claimed it as my own, then I too would have an attitude of superiority.
Instead, I am apart of a race who despite being ripped from their native land, had to learn a new language, was continually told we would amount to nothing and integration would never come, we marched on, was told separate was equal, we marched on, was beaten, killed, and intimidated, was hosed in the streets, we marched on. I come from a race full of pride and accomplishment, a rich history of warriors and soldiers, leaders and influencers, and we still march on!!!!
Now you say the corners are infested with nickel and dime dealers, but your offices are filled w/ workers taking anti-depressants, Crystal Meth, Ecstasy, OxyContin, and many others to escape from yourselves. Did you know, in 2007 anti-depressants become the most prescribed drug in the United States and that is to your people because Black America is lacking in health insurance. Your culture uses and abuses drugs just the same if not more, but you will have society believe that its okay b/c it comes from a doctor---it’s all the same.
Get over yourself. If what you posted is all you see from the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. then I will suggest to you to pick up a book or shall I say several (don’t just stop at Dr. King) and read his legacy, read how he has affected the lives of all races, or just look in your work place, or how about walking down the street, if I have to point out to you how he revolutionize a country then I can only conclude you may be able to read, but comprehension is the KEY.
wow, that person came off a little racist. If you want your arguments heard and appreciated (which in some twisted way, someone, somewhere, will be able to pull those argument of successfully)you need to learn to sound a little less like a bigot and a little more intelligent. Understand the culture you're trying to speak to. Be aware of your audience...NEVER SAY "YOU PEOPLE" ever ever ever!
Instead come at it with an informative opinion. Lets say your personal experience is plagued with African Americans being late, or Mexicans...
(there was a knock at the door...my new gear is here, i'm so excited, but anyways, back to my rant)
...starring at your girlfriend as she walked by, then you have all the right in the world to share those experiences. And feel free to express that you believe in the stereotype. But at same time that you share a racial bias be ready to accept that not everyone is like that. As a result you will not view every individual of that particular race in the same manner. Like i mentioned earlier, I'm a Mexican-American, born and raised in the US, however, even i feel a certain bias towards Mexicans when I walk pass a group of them. But, that will never hinder me from helping them out if i'm in a position to do so, or whatever the case may be.
In summary, try and sound less angry. It's ok to be frustrated, confused, even anxious to finally getting some answers, but those emotions will never come close to subsiding if you come at the problems sounding the way that you did. And this doesnt just go for you, everyone else is included, even me.
Hello Everyone, I am sorry for my absence. Not that any of you care, I just moved to Chicago (from Miami) and haven't set up the DSL yet and had to go to Pureto Rico for work all this week. Lots of good debate, I am going to Jump in later. Hopefully not too late.
:-)
this goes to the angry guy:
i'm black, but i'm not angry at the way you said what you said. i say what i feel about other races and even my own.
i to am tired of the crying of foul play and such.
the truth is that no one alive today has felt the sting of slavery in the cotton-picking sense.
however, the conditioning is still there. we still live under the terms of "field nigger vs. house nigger"
blacks dwell on problems of the past way too much. if i hear kanye west say "give a black man a chance!" one more time in regards to himself i'm gonna throw up.
he doesn't go thru the struggles most blacks go thru.(getting off topic)
i think we ALL need to pull together. we can stop all this bitchin and whinin right now.
oppression exists
racisism exists
"hate" exist
okay now we all officially know so lets get over it, by helping each other out.
Good Morning Everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend. Unfortunately, I am guess half of you did not. Because based on what I am reading most of you either went to protest something or are generally opressed and brainwashed into believing in an equality that doesn't exist.
Cool Guy, I love Kanye to. I wish most singers, artists and actors would quit thinking they are smarter than the rest of us because they have a hit album / movie or two. Just shut up and sing already!
JCruz - Spot on my Hermano! Enyone with enough determination can better themselves. Let me add to that. If you have determination and live in the greatest country in God's Green Earth, you can make it. You have less of a chance if you are living anywhere else. As for your Cuban vs. Mexican thing, the difference is clear. Cubans live under a communist dictatorship and therefore, if they reach the United States (have to touch the mainland) then they are offered assylum and citizen ship. Mexicans don't live under a dictatorship and have free elections. As I said earlier, I lived in Miami (just moved) for the past 2 yrs. Cubans, unlike mexicans (don't take this as racist). Want to come to America to become Americans. They embrace the country, learn the culture and are albe to maintain their own cuban culture. They are grateful for the privelige of being in this country. Most Mexican Illegal Aliens (I hate the term undocumented immigrants / workers almost as much as African Americans) come here to set up Mexican Outposts and consider themselves Mexicans living North of the Border. They generally have no desire to become Americans, but want everything America has to offer. As soon as Fidel Dies or the dictatorship in Cuba is over, thousands upon thousand of Cubans will flock back to Cuba very quickly. So quickly in fact, it may have a negative impact on the local economy in Mia. Best example I can give, when Fidel Castro was annnounced or believed to be dead, in Miami all the evening shows were interrupted for the breaking news. This happened no where else in the country. There were people cheering in the streets. Opposite example: Mexicans want to take drivers license and even school exams in spanish, some people in CA and TX demand we accept the peso.
Someone, I believe, complained that we need to spend more money on Education and higher taxes for the rich. This is simply not necessary. We already spend more money on Education and Healthcare than we spend on the entire National Defense. Another Myth: $1 spent in Iraq does not mean one less dollar spent on education, or Healthcare. In other words, its not a zero sum game. The problem is the education system itself not spending. Unions don't help, its really tough to fire a bad teacher.
No one on the planet has a playbook for success. Each person's path is different, depending on what your aspirations are. But the principals are the same. Self Reliance, Self Respect and Self Responsibility to name a few. You have to be patient, not everyone can be rich. Even if they could, it doesn't happen over night. Its not guaranteed you will become rich. But everyone can definitely do better than the generation before them. That's not too hard. So ask yourselves, despite your current oppression, are you better off than the generation before you? If Answer = Yes, then you are not as opressed as you think you are.
I have a dream speech - Nice touch, perhaps one of the greatest speeches of all times - Unfortunately that speech wouldn't go over well today, because many many people (mainly on the left) want to eliminate God from everyday life...Dr. King was not an activist! He was true civil rights leader that actually made a difference in this world, unlike Jesse Jackson, Sharpton and Shabaz (Shabaz being flat out racist). Unity is not required to make a difference, but it helps.
Diamonique - I didn't like the the person said "just stop" but at some point we can't blame everything on slavery. Same as the Jews really can't blame the Germans anymore for the troubles, France saved the US in the revolution and we saved them twice in WWI and WWII, but its not relevant today.
My Mother is Hunduran, my Father is Hungarian. I've never used the words "My people" referring to either nationality. I've also never used the words "You People" referring to a race (I have used it referring to other teams, or groups such as "you Clevelanders are Crazy, etc. )
Have a great oppressive week!
Heard a great quote today:
"Optimism is infectious and inspiring, but a lot of people don't want to deal with optimism because they have to work hard to achieve it. Pessimism is easy: just sit around and mope"
What happened, did everyone lose their internet connections?
Anyone see the movie "I Am Legend". Would understand if you didn't, apparently not many people did. I feel like Will Smith right now, I am the only one left in the world and nobody to talk too...
